💧 Groundwater Quality Assessment in Dhaka City
- Introduction
- Significance
- Objective
- Methodology
- Water Quality Parameters Measured
- Expected Outcomes
Dhaka is one of the most densely-populated cities in the world. All the economic activities in Bangladesh are Dhaka-centric. The water supply problem is acute in this city. Recently it is found that the declining trend of groundwater in Dhaka city is 3 meters per year and the density of the wells is increasing with time. Most of the cities of Bangladesh are primarily based on groundwater sources for water supply. The water can conveniently be abstracted by deep tube wells or by shallow tube wells.
- The quality of groundwater is important because it determines the suitability of water for drinking, domestic and irrigation purposes.
- Parameters that are frequently sampled or monitored for water quality include temperature, pH, Conductivity, TDS, Salinity, CO₂, Iron, DO (Dissolved Oxygen).
- To analyze some samples of deep aquifer groundwater of Dhaka city
- Comparing the values of the tested parameters with Bangladesh standards
- To ascertain the suitability of deep aquifer groundwater of Dhaka city for drinking and domestic purposes
